【摘要】:Operatorsofpowerandotherplantsproducingalkalineby-productsandwastewatertreatmentplantoperatorsneedingtotreatandmanagewastewatersolidswillfindthisguidehelpfulindealingwiththeirmaterials.Thisguideprovidesthetests,procedures,andparametersthatshouldbeconsideredtosignificantlyreducepathogensinwastewatertreatmentplantsolidsbytheadditionofmanufacturedorby-productalkalinematerials(1).41.1Thisdocumentprovidesguidanceforuseofreactivealkalinematerials(quicklime,hydratedlime,highlimeflyash,orotherbyproducts)fortreatingwastewatersolids(biosolids)toreducepathogenlevelsandachievecompliancewithregulatoryrequirements.Federal(40CFR,Part503)regulationsforuseordisposalofbiosolidsbecameeffectiveonMarch22,1993;refertoUSEPAregulationsandguidancedocumentsforinformationonothertreatmentprocessesorforspecificrequirementsforuseordisposalofbiosolids.1.2Additionalrequirementsmaybeimposedbyindividualstates,andtheseareavailablethroughstateregulatoryagenciesthatissuepermitsfortreatmentanduseordisposal,orboth,ofbiosolids.1.3Thisguidedoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
