【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedforuseofscraptiresincluding:tirederivedaggregate(TDA)comprisedofpiecesofscraptires,TDA/soilmixtures,tiresidewalls,andwholescraptiresincivilengineeringapplications.ThisincludesuseofTDAandTDA/soilmixturesaslightweightembankmentfill,lightweightretainingwallbackfill,drainagelayersforroads,landfillsandotherapplications,thermalinsulationtolimitfrostpenetrationbeneathroads,insulatingbackfilltolimitheatlossfrombuildings,vibrationdampinglayersforraillines,andreplacementforsoilorrockinotherfillapplications.Useofwholescraptiresandtiresidewallsincludesconstructionofretainingwalls,drainageculverts,road-basereinforcement,anderosionprotection,aswellasuseasfillwhenwholetireshavebeencompressedintobales.Itistheresponsibilityofthedesignengineertodeterminetheappropriatenessofusingscraptiresinaparticularapplicationandtoselectapplicabletestsandspecificationstofacilitateconstructionandenvironmentalprotection.Thispracticeisintendedtoencouragewiderutilizationofscraptiresincivilengineeringapplications.ThreeTDAfillswiththicknessesinexcessof7mhaveexperiencedaseriousheatingreaction.However,morethan100fillswithathicknesslessthan3mhavebeenconstructedwithnoevidenceofadeleteriousheatingreaction(1).GuidelineshavebeendevelopedtominimizeinternalheatingofTDAfills(2)asdiscussedin6.11.Theguidelinesareapplicabletofillslessthan3mthick.Thus,thispracticeshouldbeappliedonlytoTDAfillslessthan3mthick.1.1Thispracticeprovidesguidancefortestingthephysicalproperties,designconsiderations,constructionpractices,andleachategenerationpotentialofprocessedorwholescraptiresinlieuofconventionalcivilengineeringmaterials,suchasstone,gravel,soil,sand,lightweightaggregate,orotherfillmaterials.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.
